It’s been a Week since I heard the News of My Dear Friend and Boss passing away. It still feels like some Bad Dream, I mean it was so Sudden and Unexpected. Had I known he would be taken from us so quickly, I would have said so much more to him while we were private chatting in the Ace Chat Room last Monday. I would have Thanked him for giving me the Opportunity to present on his Awesome station, it really has been so lovely to be here. I would have also Thanked him for introducing me to some of the most Loving People I’ve every had the pleasure to meet along with introducing me to such great music. I could have Thanked him for helping me through some very Rough patches on my life and Teaching me how to Dream and watch my Dreams come true.

Do you know I never bothered to dream about anything, because I didn’t believe they could become reality. He was always there showing me the Positive when all I saw was Negative, he also had a way of making me Laugh in times of Darkness, which was quite a feat at times. I may seem to be a Very Upbeat happy person, but Mark could always read behind my Giggles on air, he could tell when I was putting on the Clown Face when I was actually Crying inside.  He truly was an Amazing person in that sense, we had a joke that we were Super Hero’s and were ment to Destroy the Evils of the world through Laughter and Silliness. We use to help each other, when he was in the Dark Place I would remind him of what a Truly Amazing person he was, which was so crazy to me that he would forget that at times.

So Marky, I will miss your FB updates about your Wonderful station, your Passion for the Dark Side and your Love of the Bright Side of Life. I will miss Stream hand overs and you calling my shows “Chick Cast” w/those Bouncing Chickies and I will miss your Late night love of Pot Noodles. There are so many things I will miss about you My Lovely Bossy Bossy, your Love and Friendship being Top on the List.

Rest Easy in that Big Studio in the Sky sweetie, Watch Over and Guide us in our Future Endeavors here at AceRadio. You’ll Always be in our Hearts and will Never be Forgotten ♥

Some of you may have noticed there has been some huge changes to the Wednesday night ”TKRS” show recently. This is due to lengthy considerations of how I wanted the show to evolve as I feel sitting still is going nowhere! Some music has been removed from the playlist and some has been made more prominent in it’s presence. I know some may not like the changes, but I needed to move with how I was feeling.

Firstly, the “Teenage Kicks Radio Show” no longer exists in it’s previous format. The show is now simply titled “TKRS: Rebel Radio”.

The most dramatic change is the move away from the Mod/Scooterist identity that the show has been displaying proudly since May 2009. Please understand that I am NOT turning my back on the Scootering scene in any way, I just feel the time is right for the show to evolve. Some bands from the Scootering scene will still feature in the shows, just not as prominently as before.

I am now playing a more Alternative mix of more recent Punk, Ska, Soul, Celtic Punk, Psychobilly and Rockabilly, and will also be featuring music from new and up’n'coming artists. Artists are still invited to send their music in for consideration of being added to the playlist and I will do my best to showcase as many as I deem suitable for broadcast.

I am totally aware that some listeners may decide that the new format is not for them, that’s ok, I’m not going to try to persuade you otherwise as you know your own preferences. If you decide you no longer wish to tune in then I will take this opporunity to thank you for your support in the past! I only hope that everybody understands the need for the show to evole, afterall, radio is all about entertainment, and if I’m not entertained with my own shows then it will become impossible for me to fully entertain you, the listeners.

Fans of the “One Step Beyond” Reggae/Ska show can rest assured that I have absolutely NO plans to alter the format of that show, it will remain as it is and will still contain the great mix of old and new tunes that you have become acustomed to hearing.

Those astute of you might have noticed, I made a post and then deleted it… must check all my ‘ins’ and my ‘outs’ before I write next time.  Anyway, we’ll start again!

Just a friendly reminder to join me, Ross Lee, here on Ace Radio on Wednesday evening for “Whine and Cheese”… I’ll be playing all the best in ’summer’ music, to bansih those mid-week blues, and help you through to the weekend, not to mention my usual features – the ‘Whine’ (that’s Ace Radio Karaoke, for those unitiated in Whine and Cheese), and ‘Cheese’ – three hand-picked cheeses from 3 different decades.

With a last-minute change in ‘Whines’ this week, I’m very proud to introduce another mystery guest to the ‘Whine Mic’.  Let’s see if he can top Mark Alexander’s rendition of ‘Honey’ from last Wednesday!  Keep listening, and see if you can work out who’s ‘Whining’ this week!!

Also, don’t forget the little informal ‘chat-room quiz’ – just for fun, but I’m keeping a track of the scores, and might well be sending a prize to the top scorer at the end of the month too…

And, last but not least, our ‘Reverse Cover Version’ – where my unofficial featured artists put their take on a Robbie Williams classic!

As you are aware, I have been running weekly competitions on the main Teenage Kicks Radio Show on Wednesday evenings with some great prizes that have been kindly donated by several generous bands and businesses. I am sure that you would join with me in thanking those people who have donated towards the prizes to let them know we are all truely appreciative of their kindness.

Sadly, these prizes are not limitless, and they are being given away faster than I can replace them. With this in mind I have taken a look at the way that I run these competitions and I have made the decision to run them just once a month for the time being. If the prize collection starts to build again sufficiently then I may be in a position to reinstate the weekly competitions, but until then I want to ensure that we don’t run out of prizes completely.

So… “TKRS” competitions will now take place on the first Wednesday of each month during the live shows on Ace Radio. I will continue to create Event pages on the TKRS Productions fan page to keep you all informed of what is happeneing on a weekly basis.

On April 12th 2009 that dream came true for Mark Alexander. Ace Radio took to the air at 9am on that Sunday morning with the sound of The Pointer Sisters singing I’m So Excited, a feeling that Mark must have been duplicating in his own heart!

Two years on and that little station has three awards under it’s belt including 4th place in the 2009/2010 Internet Radio Awards, 1st place in the 2010 Adult Contemporary Catagory Awards and most recently, 1st place in the 2010/2011 Internet Radio Awards.

On April 11th 2011 we will be hosting an evening of fun to celebrate our second birthday. Live shows will be starting at 4pm (UK) on that day and will be going through until midnight (or after) with several presenters hosting a show in their own style.
